Dominick Nocchi

Dominick Nocchi began studying the cello in 2021, drawn to its uniquely warm tone and expressive depth. He currently studies under Emily Munn-Wood and performs in multiple ensembles, including his high school orchestra (directed by Kira Boreman), and regional county orchestra under the direction of Terry Foster. In 2024, he was selected to participate in the ILMEA District Festival as a freshman—a notable accomplishment.

Dominick finds particular fulfillment in the collaborative energy of orchestral performance, describing it as “a unique experience—being part of such a big sound and creating music with others who care deeply about their craft.” His favorite works to perform include Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Night on Bald Mountain, and Marche Slave. As a soloist, he is especially drawn to Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major. He cites Tchaikovsky and Ravel among his favorite composers.

Outside of music, Dominick enjoys reading and going on bike rides.
